Turku transport guide: public transport, taxis, airport links, onward routes and what to book. Updated 2026.

Finland's oldest city is the western ferry gateway and runs Föli, a regional bus authority covering Turku, Kaarina, Raisio, Naantali and Lieto.

Single €3.15 (€4.50 cash) / 24h €8.30 (as of 2026)

No tram or metro system. Föri, the free little ferry across the Aura river, runs 06:15–23:00 in summer and 06:15–21:00 in winter; the crossing takes about three minutes and in hard winters an ice bridge replaces it. The free funicular climbs from Linnankatu by the river to the top of Kakolanmäki hill in about a minute (weekdays 04:30–01:00, weekends 05:00–24:00). Föli city bike network operates May–October.

Turku's Föli is a regional transport authority covering Turku and six other municipalities (Kaarina, Raisio, Lieto, Naantali, Paimio and Rusko). No tram or metro yet, just buses and a summer water bus, but the network is dense, the app works in English, and the Fölläri city bikes are out from April to December.

No zones: a single ticket costs the same anywhere in the Föli area.

Dozens of lines across the seven Föli municipalities. Most buses pass through Market Square (Kauppatori).

700 bikes at more than 200 stations, run by Donkey Republic and unlocked with its app. €2 per hour, and the first hour is free with a Föli season ticket of 30 days or more. Season 1 April to 22 December 2026.

Small ferry across the Aura river, free for everyone and running all year: 06:15–23:00 in summer, 06:15–21:00 in winter. The crossing takes a few minutes.

Turku Airport (TKU) is about 8 km from the city centre. Föli bus 1 runs from the airport to Market Square about every 15 minutes in the daytime, a ride of about 23 minutes, on a €3.15 single Föli ticket.

Main lines such as 1 and 6 run from early morning until after midnight, and until about 3 am on Friday and Saturday nights. Between 23:00 and 04:00 a single ticket costs €1 more.

€3.15 single (€4.50 in cash on the bus), valid two hours including transfers anywhere in the Föli area. €8.30 for a day ticket.

Not yet. A 12 km tramway from Linnakaupunki to Varissuo is being built, with trams due in 2033. Until then Föli runs buses.

How do I get to Naantali Moomin World by bus?

Föli bus 6 or 6A from Turku Market Square to Naantali, about 40 minutes and roughly every 15 minutes, then walk to the Moomin island by the guest harbour. Single Föli ticket €3.15.

The free Föri ferry across the Aura river is a Turku icon: short ride, no fare, and every visitor takes it.

Bus 1 from the airport stops at Market Square (the main central hub).

Föli also covers Naantali, home of Moomin World: bus 6 or 6A from Market Square.
